Committed Partners for Youth (CPY) is a non-profit mentoring agency servicing youth-in-need in the Eugene/Springfield community. We serve youth (ages 6 to 17) through our partnerships with Eugene/Springfield elementary schools, middle schools, social services agencies and the juvenile court system.

CPY was founded in 1991 by a local mother and psychologist, Llew Wells, after struggling for many years with the challenges facing her own son and daughter. She knew in her heart that a mentor could have made a huge difference in their lives. With the help of others, she made it her mission to create this unique local program in order to help other children in need.

    Results

CPY's research shows that mentored youth...

    • Decrease their drug and alcohol use
    • Increase their school attendance
    • Increase their signs of self-worth in establishing new relationships
    • Reduce negative peer relationships
    • Increase their trust in parental relationships

    Mission

Connecting youth to their community through mentors who inspire the development of personal identity, healthy relationships and meaningful opportunities.

Youth are matched with caring volunteer adults who are trained to focus on positive reinforcement, trust-building, and the achievement of goals, by engaging youth in one-on-one outings and group adventures in the community.

Four cornerstones form the basis of each CPY mentoring relationship: Commitment, Responsibility, Possibility & Support.

    Needs

    1. Mentors to work with at-risk youth in the Eugene/Springfield area of Oregon
    2. Funding to support mentor-youth pairs.

    Why Mentoring Matters

Committed Partners for Youth is celebrating its 18th year anniversary of matching adult volunteer mentors with youth-in-need. We have designed tours called “Why Mentoring Matters” to generate awareness about what CPY is doing in the community. You will meet some CPY staff, board members and hear a mentor, former youth or parent/caretaker share their experience about how mentoring has impacted their lives.

Click here for upcoming dates. The tours are only 1-hour long - and bring a friend!

    Who Mentored You?

I'm sure you can look back and remember that one person who helped you along in life. Maybe it wasn't a formal mentor, but someone who just took a few moments out of their day to help direct you down the right road. CPY asked the question "Who Mentored You?" to several community and business leaders in the Eugene and Springfield communities (like the Chief of Police, the Mayor, and the UO's Basketball Coach). Click here to see what they had to say.

  • a nonprofit group asks:

"We would like to conduct a social impact study of our members that  illustrate the programmatic impact nonprofits have on the community. We have been able to find reports for the economic impact of nonprofits, but not a compilation of their social impact, their program benchmarks, as it were. Do you know of any reports or organizations that are doing this kind of work that we could link with or use their survey work?"

Indeed, we have extensive information here:
