D. Embedding Video in a Card

Embedding video in a card is very similar to embedding an image, but you need to use an outside video hosting serivce such as http://youtube.com or http://vimeo.com to host your video content. Please consult these sites for instructions on how to upload and share your videos online.

Once you have you video posted to a video sharing site, you will be given the chance to copy a snippet of code called "embed." This is a bit of HTML that allows people to share video on their blogs, websites and social media platforms. To put video in connectipedia, you are going to create and embed an HTML card that has that snippet of code in it. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Click here to create an HTML card.
Any way you create a card will work, as long as you set its card type to "HTML." See How Do I Create a New Card? for an explanation of creating new cards.
  2. Copy the "embed" code from your video sharing and hosting site.
  3. Paste the code into the body of your new HTML card and click "save."

Including a video (or any HTML) is like including any other card — just put the name of the card you want to include in double-curly-brackets:  {{cardname}}.

For example, there is already an image card named "Social Media in Plain English Video." If I want to include it here, I just type {{Social Media in Plain English Video}}, and I get:
