G. Tips For Editing Topic Cards

Creating new topics in connec+ipedia:
First, either click on the New Card link in the quick menu or begin typing the new title in the search bar of any page. See How Do I Create a New Card? for a refresher on creating a card. Choose “Topic” from the Card Type menu located in the top right-hand corner of the card header.

The template for your topic card is automatically filled in. All you need to do now is enter information you have in the corresponding areas. You don’t need to have information for every area of the topic, that’s what the community is for!

Connecting Topics to People in Topic Cards

You can highlight People & Organizations that are useful resources for those just beginning to research a specific topic area by adding them to the Where To Start list.

Click on the “add...” link beneath the Where To Start area of the topic card.  Start typing the name of the organization and select the correct match from the auto-complete list that appears below the box.  Hit save, and you’ll see the entry has been added to the Where To Start area. This does not mean the entry is no longer listed in the People or Organizations sections - it has simply been highlighted in this additional area for other users looking for information.
