How it works
connec+ipedia is like Wikipedia in that it is made of information contributed by users. But it differs from Wikipedia in that it is a network of links to resources rather than a repository of articles. It adds another dimension by connecting pieces of information to others, making it a more powerful tool in which information can be stored and accessed as in a database. Information is delineated by its connections with other information. Like an encyclopedia of connections. connec+ipedia.
The connec+ipedia database is organized into three main parts:
Information about contacts and human and organization resources (people)
Information about geographic entities (places)
Information about subjects (things)
But what makes it really useful is the ability to locate information about people + places + things.
Look in the User Guide for sample user stories.
Who makes connec+ipedia work?
All of us. Meyer Memorial Trust developed the project in its beginning stages to make it ready for you. Me. All of us. If you know something that is not yet included in connec+ipedia, please add it. If you know a better or more recent and complete resource than what is included now, please improve connec+ipedia by adding it.
Who checks the information for accuracy?
All of us. Meyer Memorial Trust monitors connec+ipedia against spamming and malicious mischief, but the responsibility for making the information reliable and accurate is shared by all of us. This reflects a new way of treating information. Whereas in the old days, information was deemed valuable only if it came from a credentialed expert with access to a printing press, the Internet makes it possible for anyone who knows information to easily share it. So if you see something in connec+ipedia that is wrong, please correct it.
