    Linfield College: Connecting Learning, Life and Community

    Linfield College (Ore.) is a four-year, coeducational liberal arts institution offering baccalaureate degrees in 44 majors to 2,500 students. In addition to the main campus in McMinnville, the college operates the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing on its Portland Campus, and its Division of Continuing Education offers baccalaureate programs to working adults throughout Oregon and across the nation. One of the oldest colleges in the Pacific Northwest, Linfield was chartered by the Oregon Territorial Legislature in 1858.

    • and inspires the courage to live by moral and spiritual principle and to defend freedom of conscience.

    Student Body

    • Students represent 32 states and 21 countries.
    • 13% of American students are minorities.
    • 24% of nursing students are minorities (Class of 2009)
    • Average age: 21 in McMinnville, 28 in Portland; 38 for DCE students.
    • 61% are federally determined to need financial aid.
    • 15% receive federal Pell Grants.
    • 18% are first-generation college students.
    • 54% are female and 45% are male

    Accreditation

    Linfield College is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Specialized accreditation is granted to certain of the college’s individual programs. The Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing is accredited by the Oregon State Board of Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The education program is approved for training of elementary and secondary teachers by the State of Oregon’s Teachers Standards and Practices Commission. Linfield College’s music program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, and its athletic training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.

    "We would like to conduct a social impact study of our members that  illustrate the programmatic impact nonprofits have on the community. We have been able to find reports for the economic impact of nonprofits, but not a compilation of their social impact, their program benchmarks, as it were. Do you know of any reports or organizations that are doing this kind of work that we could link with or use their survey work?"
