  • According to the Urban Institute, "A performing arts presenting organization is an organization, or department or program of a larger organization, that works to facilitate exchanges between artists and audiences through creative, educational, and performance opportunities. The work that these artists perform is produced outside of the presenting organization." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Performing_arts_presenters

The performing arts are those forms of art which differ from the plastic arts insofar as the former uses the artist's own body, face, and presence as a medium, and the latter uses materials such as clay, metal or paint which can be molded or transformed to create some physical art object. The term "performing arts" first appeared in the English language in the year 1711. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Performing_arts

  • a nonprofit group asks:

"We would like to conduct a social impact study of our members that  illustrate the programmatic impact nonprofits have on the community. We have been able to find reports for the economic impact of nonprofits, but not a compilation of their social impact, their program benchmarks, as it were. Do you know of any reports or organizations that are doing this kind of work that we could link with or use their survey work?"

Indeed, we have extensive information here:

    Social Impact of Nonprofits
